The Uganda Pharmaceutical Symposium is the premier annual flagship gathering organized by the Uganda Pharmaceutical Students' Association (UPSA). It brings together pharmacy students from all major pharmacy schools in the country alongside healthcare professionals, regulatory bodies, and Ministry of Health leaders.

The MBUPSA Annual Pharmacy Dinner themed "A Dose of Elegance" is the most anticipated black-tie celebration of the academic year. It brings together pharmacy students, faculty, and alumni for a night dedicated to style, achievements, and togetherness.

Pharmacy Week is MBUPSA’s flagship annual celebration—a dynamic week dedicated to community health outreach, professional exposure, student innovation, and social connection. 15th March — NCD Medical Camp: Free community health screenings, consultations, and education on Non-Communicable Diseases. 16th March — Pharmaceutical Expo: Showcasing current industry trends, innovations, and networking opportunities with pharmacy leaders. 17th March — Innovation Product Pitch: Pharmacy students pitch creative solutions and novel health products. 18th March — Annual General Assembly: The core association meeting to discuss student affairs and future goals. 19th March — Car Wash: A fun community fundraiser to support MBUPSA projects. 21st March — AMR Sports Gala: Wrapping up the week with sports and team activities to spread awareness about Antimicrobial Resistance.

Mbarara University Pharmacy students were recognized with the Excellence Award in Digital Innovation for Universal Health Coverage at the 5th Uganda Pharmaceutical Symposium, hosted at Kampala International University (KIU), Ishaka. The three-day symposium was officiated by Dr. Martha Grace Ajulong, Commissioner of Pharmaceutical Services and Natural Medicines at the Ministry of Health, together with Dr. Jonans Tusiimire, President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda. The event brought together Bachelor of Pharmacy students from seven universities: Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST), Makerere University, KIU, Victoria University, Busitema University, Gulu University, and FINS Medical University—under the umbrella of the Uganda Pharmaceutical Students’ Association (UPSA). The award-winning innovation, Digital Musawo, is an AI-powered system developed by Mr. Anyine Jonathan, Mr. Lukwago Joseph and Ms. Irumva Dorris from MUST. The system is designed to mimic the role of a doctor by providing medical advice in emergency situations and delivering accurate health information to patients in remote areas—especially those without internet access.

In a significant health outreach, the Uganda Pharmaceutical Students' Association (UPSA) partnered with pharmacy student associations from Mbarara University, Kampala International University, Makerere University, and Victoria University to promote sexual and reproductive health among youth in Bukedi's rural region. This collaborative effort took place over three days at Mulanda Health Center IV in Tororo District, under the theme "Sexual Reproductive Rights and Health Among Youth in Bukedi Subregion." The event provided essential health services, including free contraceptives, family planning guidance, STI testing and management, and mental health counseling. The camp aimed to tackle obstacles that young people in rural Uganda face in accessing accurate health information and services, often limited by stigma, cultural norms, and economic constraints. Through educational sessions and one-on-one consultations led by trained professionals and students, youth participants learned about safe sex practices, STI prevention, family planning, and mental well-being. The outreach drew hundreds of young participants, offering them a non-judgmental space to discuss sensitive health issues. The event highlighted the power of partnerships in addressing public health challenges and laid the foundation for sustainable health education and support in rural areas. Looking forward, UPSA and its partners plan to sustain this impact by organizing additional health programs, engaging local health centers, and utilizing digital tools to improve ongoing education and access to resources. This medical camp represents a collaborative stride towards bridging the healthcare gap for young people in underserved communities.

Pharmacy Students exhibit their products, and we usually have charity car wash and innovations

This is an annual challenge in which pharmacy classes compete against each other. The questions range from testing pharmacy knowledge, sports, entertainment and history of pharmacy. Each year came up with a team of four members to represent them in the competition The overall winners were the year fours, followed by second years, year ones and lastly third years.

MBUPSA is holding a sports week starting from 2nd September to 8th Sept with the winner going away with a goat prize.
